Valley of Flowers National Park is an outstandingly beautiful high-altitude Himalayan valley renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty. The Valley of Flowers is reputed to be an enchanting sight, a land ablaze with a bewildering variety of flowers. Set amidst majestic snow clad mountains the valley is spread over an area of 87.5 sq. kms., at an altitude of 3250 to 6750 metres. The bloom starts immediately after the melting of snow but the peak blooming period is from mid July to mid August. Almost 300 species of wild flowers bloom here unhindered by mankind.

It is located in Uttarakhand state. This richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, brown bear and blue sheep.

The valley was declared a national park in 1982 and now it is a World Heritage Site. The valley is home to many celebrated flowers like the Brahmakamal, the Blue Poppy and the Cobra Lily.

Hemkund Sahib

Situated at a height of over 15,000 feet above the sea level in the Himalayan ranges of northern India, Sri Hemkund Sahib is a popular center of Sikh Pilgrimage which is visited by thousands of devotees from all over the world every summer. It was here that Sri Guru Gobind Singh the tenth and last Guru of the Sikhs is reported to have meditated in his previous life.

Auli is a famous hill station and a popular winter destination as ski resort of India, known for its snowy slopes, Auli has everything that an ideal tourist dreamed for like Himalayan Views, meadows, adventure activities, romantic vistas, cable cars and much more. At an astonishing height of 2909 meters Auli offers a magnificent view of crescent Himalayas.

Badrinath and Mana

Visit to the beautiful temple town of Badrinath and India's first village on this side - Mana.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be in hotel rooms with attached washrooms on twin (double) sharing basis for 1 night Srinagar/Rudrapraya, 2 nights Auli, 3 nights Ghangaria and 1 night in Rishikesh.
 

Please Carry

High Altitude Trek travel requires one to be adequately equipped with the right kind of personal gear. Since one is travelling in the wilderness there will be hardly any opportunity to buy anything once you start the trip so we urge you to carefully pack everything into your Rucksacks.
 

  1. Trekking Pants-4/5 (Choose your clothes wisely and don’t pack too much. Avoid jeans. Denim Jeans are not comfortable during the trek. Carry trousers (lowers) or trek suits. Carry clothes that can dry easily.
  2. Shirts / T-shirts – 4/5
  3. Windproof jacket of decent quality (no flimsy wind cheaters please!) preferably with a hood
  4. Good quality Warm and thick Fleece / Full-sleeve Woollen sweater
  5. Thermal inner wear (upper & lower)
  6. Woollen / Monkey cap
  7. Woollen gloves
  8. Woollen socks & regular socks (3-4 pairs)
  9. Scarf/muffler (optional)
  10. Comfortable Trekking/Hiking shoes with extra laces (shoes with a thick sole are recommended) preferably waterproof
  11. Lightweight floaters/sandals/slippers
  12. Raincoat / Poncho
  13. Small light weight towel
  14. Water bottle (sturdy ones, no empty Plastic bottles!!)
  15. Cap / Hat to keep the sun / rain away from your face
  16. Sunglasses (preferably with reflectors)
  17. Walking stick / Trekking pole (optional)
  18. Sunscreen Lotion
  19. Torch / Flashlight or Head Lamp (with extra batteries)
  20. Medicines, if requiring any specific medication
  21. Personal toiletries (Shaving kit, Shampoo 3-4 sachets), Lip Balm & Cold Cream, Facewash, Soap, Comb, Mirror, Toothbrush and Toothpaste.)
  22. Wipes - It is always handy to have a small pack of wet wipes.
  23. Diary/Pen: To note down expenses and other important points.
  24. Day pack/small bag which you will carry on your back every day to keep your essentials in it.
  25. Carry rain cover for your bags. (Large plastic gunny bags come handy)
  26. Keep a few poly bags or waterproof bags for wet clothes and waste material
  27. Camera if you like (with fully charged batteries): There is erratic electricity supply to charge the camera batteries for 3 days. So always carry an extra battery. Also carry extra memory cards. RAIN Cover
  28. Mobile: It’s advisable to keep your smartphone switched off and use only when required. BSNL & JiO network do work but are not dependable.
  29. Identity: Carry an ID proof.
  30. Money: Carry cash only as much, knowing your own habits. No credit cards/debit cards accepted on this route. However, en-route, you can find ATMs. (Carry some cash during the trek)
  31. Fevi quick / Quick Fix: Just in case, you need it.
  32. Safety Pins: Carrying 5-6 safety pins in your check in baggage is always a good idea.
  33. Rope/String: You should always carry at least 2-3 meters of rope (nylon/other material).
  34. Food Items that you should carry during the trek: Dry Fruits, Chocolates, Biscuits, Toffee & ORS or energy drink sachets.

 
Carry your stuff in a duffel bag, soft shoulder bag or a rucksack. Avoid suitcases, trolleys or any other hard luggage. As you will be walking long distances carrying a rucksack, avoid bringing unnecessary items on the trek. Please avoid carrying expensive watches, jewellery and electronic items on the trek. Also remember that the bag which will be carried by the mules can have a maximum weight of 10 kgs. so pack sensibly. One bag per person would be carried by the mules.

Food

Wholesome and hygienic vegetarian food and Egg dishes would be served. Special Jain/Swaminarayan food is also served, if mentioned in the registration form.

Weather

The best season for this trek is June to September. Post June 15 it could rain anytime and for any duration. In the higher mountains it normally drizzles and doesn’t pour the way it does in the plains. You will have lot of mist. Day temperatures could fall down to 10 - 15 deg. There is possibility of sunny days also and in this case your day temperatures could go up to 20 - 23 deg. Evenings and nights are going to be moderately cold with temperatures around 6 – 14 degree.

Medical facilities in the form of  First aid would be available throughout the programme. All emergencies would be treated by the nearest available doctor/medical facility. Any charges arising of Medical emergencies shall be borne by the participant.

Itinerary

Depart from Vadodara by 3AC Rajdhani Express Train for Delhi. Night in train.

Arrival Delhi in the morning. Depart for Rudraprayag/Srinagar by AC vehicle. Arrive Rudraprayag/Srinagar in the evening and check into hotel. Night Halt at Rudraprayag/Srinagar.

 

For Flight option:

Depart from Ahmedabad / Vadodara by flight for Dehradun. Arrive Dehradun and depart for Rudraprayag/Srinagar.

 

This is a long but interesting drive. You will for most part of the journey drive along the Alaknanda river. On way you will be crossing the holy towns of Rudra Prayag, Karna Prayag & Nand Prayag. Arrive Auli by lunch. Evening visit Auli top or relax watching the mighty Himalayas. Overnight in Auli.  

After early breakfast drive for about an hour or so to reach Govindghat (22Kms), our starting point for the trek. We start the trek by crossing the river Alaknanda over a bridge at Govindghat. Further transfer by local vehicle upto Pulna. The 11 Km Trek for Ghangaria begins from Pulna. We trek towards the Bhyundar valley through forest area and a few villages. There are numerous waterfalls and lush green landscape all around. The gradient of the trail is moderate. The trek to Ghangaria takes about 4-5 hrs. One can also hire a mule or use the helicopter service to reach Ghangaria. Room allotment on arrival followed by Trek briefing. Overnight in Hotel at Ghangaria.

After breakfast, trek to Valley of Flowers with Pack Lunch. It's a delightful and short ascent to the valley. Gradient is moderate and the landscape extremely soothing to the eye. It will take about a couple of hours to reach the valley. The beauty of this world-renowned valley totally lives up to its reputation. There are unending meadows laden with varieties of alpine flowers, network of streams and big mountains all around. At the entrance of the Valley stands the snow-clad peak of Ratban Parvat, towards the left is Nar Parvat, which separates the Badrinath valley from this valley, and to the right is dense Birch forest on the hillsides. We will spend 3-4 hrs exploring different corners & vantage points of the valley and towards late afternoon head back to Ghangaria. Overnight at Hotel, Devlok, Ghangaria.

After breakfast, full day trek to Hemkund Sahib with Pack Lunch. Today's climb to Hemkund Sahib is steep at places and will take about 3 - 4 hrs. The lake is surrounded by wildflowers with Brahmkamal & the Blue Poppy being the most popular. Pilgrims take a dip in the freezing cold waters of the lake, not an easy task. We will also visit the Laxman mandir next to the Gurudwara. Towards afternoon head back to Ghangaria. Overnight at Hotel Devlok, Ghangaria.

After early breakfast, we start our return trek to Govindghat with Pack Lunch. We are expected to reach Govindghat by noon. On reaching Govindghat we drive for about an hour (25Kms) to reach the beautiful temple town of Badrinath. A quick visit to the temple and Mana village, and we head back to Auli. (Depends on prevailing weather & road conditions and time of reaching Ghangaria). Evening at leisure. Overnight in Himalayan High, Himalayan Ecolodge Lower Auli.

After early breakfast we head back straight to Rishikesh. This is a long journey and we expect to reach Rishikesh by early evening. In the evening visit to see the Laxman Jhula and witness the Ganga Aarti. Night Halt at Rishikesh.

Start after breakfast from Rishikesh to reach New Delhi Railway Station to catch our return train, NDLS BCT Rajdhani Express to Vadodara . Night in train.

 

For Flight:

Check out and shift to Jolly Grant Airport to catch our Return flight.

 

Arrival Vadodara early morning @ 03:40 hrs.

Registration:

Please fill up the registration form and pay an advance of Rs.10,000/- to confirm your booking. The balance payment should reach our office at least 30 days before the commencement of the journey.
