Chopta

At an altitude of 8790 ft, is a picturesque hill station located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. A part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary it is surrounded by dense forests of pine, deodar, and rhododendron. Chopta, with its untouched natural beauty, serene environment, and spiritual significance, is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and trekkers. Its peaceful ambiance, coupled with the majestic views of the Himalayas, makes it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Chopta offers views of the majestic & breath taking Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. Chopta is famous for its undulating green meadows in summers & carpet of snow in winter!

Key Attractions:

Tungnath

At an altitude of 12,073 ft, it is in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district, in Uttarakhand. The Tunganath (literal meaning: Lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys.

Deoria Tal

At an altitude of 7,999 ft, it is a beautiful lake in Uttarakhand. It has heavily wooded, lush green surroundings with snow-covered mountains in the backdrop. The lake is known for its wide 300° panorama.
 

Chandrashila Peak

Just a kilometer further from Tungnath, Chandrashila stands at an altitude of 13,000 ft. The summit offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Himalayan range, including peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, and Chaukhamba.

White Water Rafting

An exciting rafting journey across kilometers on river Ganga at Kaudiyala.  This rafting experience offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Eligibility

14 years onwards. 

Activities

Trekking, summitting Chandrashila Peak, Tungnath, Deoria Tal Forest Trail and White Water Rafting.

Accommodation

Separate accommodation for boys & girls will be in tents on 3/4 sharing basis. All tents are equipped with cots with mattresses and quilts, have basic lighting  and attached toilets and bathrooms.
 

Please Carry

Six pairs of comfortable clothes, shorts or comfortable fit track pants (for rafting), night dress, bath towel, sports shoes, socks, sandals/floaters, sweater, jacket, raincoat, thermal, woollen cap, woollen socks, gloves, air-pillow, water bottle, torch, daypack, string for spectacles, carry bag for wet/soiled cloths, water-proof shoe bag and toiletries (soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, sunscreen, cold cream, lip balm etc.). Also carry an original photo ID proof. The participants may have to pay fine, wherever applicable in the absence of original photo ID.

All the Items: mentioned should preferably be packed in a rucksack that is easier to carry. Please do not bring any disposable items, ornaments and other valuables. Binoculars and camera are optional.

Registration

Please fill up the registration form and pay an advance of Rs. 10000/-  to confirm your booking along with a photocopy of your photo ID. The balance payment should reach our office at least 30 days before the commencement of the journey. Reservation is done on first come first served basis. Railway reservation will depend on the availability of tickets.

Food

Wholesome and hygienic vegetarian food would be served. Special Jain/Swaminarayan food is also served, if mentioned in the application form.

Certificate

A specially designed certificate will be issued to students who participate in all the activities & abide by all the Camp rules.

Medical Facilities

Medical facilities in the form of  First aid would be available throughout the programme. All emergencies would be treated by the nearest available doctor/medical facility. If any participant/s needs to be taken to a clinic or hospital, they will be responsible for covering the doctor's fee, medical expenses, transport charges, and any other related costs.

Itinerary

Depart from Vadodara / Sabarmati (BG) for Delhi in the evening by train in a 3 AC Regular Coach.

Arrive Delhi in the morning and depart for Jayalgarh / Srinagar by an AC Vehicle. Arrive Jayalgarh / Srinagar at around 18:30. Check-in and room allotment followed by dinner.

After Breakfast, we start the journey and drive through the holy town of Rudraprayag and follow the river Mandakini upstream. The drive after Ukhimath is through a beautiful forest of rhododendron trees. Arrive at Chopta Camp by early evening. Tent Allotment, basic orientation followed by dinner and briefing on the next days programme.

It’s a long day today, we start as early as we can in the morning. After breakfast we start the trek with climbing up the slopes of the meadows in Chopta. This extremely scenic hike will take a couple of hours to reach Tungnath temple. After a brief stop for refreshments (packed lunch shall be provided) we trek further to the summit of Chandrashila Peak. The summit offers views of big Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhambha and others. From the summit we descend down to Chopta. Night Halt in tents at Chopta.

Post breakfast we drive to Sari Village which is the commencement point of the trek. From here we begin the hike to Deoriatal, a high altitude lake. Spend a couple of hours by this majestic lake, reflecting the Chaukhamba peak in its still waters. Retracing the same route we descent to Sari village and further drive to our camp at Chopta. Night Halt in tents at Chopta.

After breakfast, we will start our journey to Kaudiyala, a camp close to the banks of the River Ganga. After lunch we take White Water Rafting trip on the Ganges. Feedback session and photo session in the evening.

Depart after an early breakfast for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and depart for Vadodara / Sabarmati (BG) by 3 Ac Train.

Important Notes:

  • This is a tentative schedule and may change based on operational feasibility.
  • The final travel schedule will be provided two days before departure.
  • If any scheduled activity is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, no refund will be provided.
  • This is a wilderness trek in the Himalayas, not a comfort-based nature camp. Please join only if you are ready to embrace the raw beauty of nature, ready to adapt in any condition, expect least facilities and push your limits—both physically and mentally.

Charges:

Charges are inclusive of accommodation, travelling from Vadodara / Ahmedabad (by different modes), food, activities and GST.

Cheques or DD should be in favour of OUTDOORS UNLIMITED, payable at VADODARA only.

A batch in any programme is subject to cancellation if the total number of participants is below 20.


Cancellation Charges:

Minimum cancellation (before 65 days) : @ 05% of the total programme cost.

Between 65 to 31 days : @ 10% of the total programme cost.

Between 30 to 15 days : @ 25% of the total programme cost.

Between 14 & 8 days : @ 50% of the total programme cost.

Last 7 days or No Show : No Refund

  • Cancellation charges will be applicable on total Programme cost. Please note that the booking is not transferable. Please bring original receipt for claiming the refund. The refund amount will be given by A/c Payee Cheque only.
