Programs > Himalayan Treks > Brahma Tal Trek

Brahmatal is a lake nestled deep into the mountains of Uttarakhand. Located amidst the majestic peaks of the Himalayas, this lake presents an alluring picture of nature at its purest “Tal” meaning lake and “Brahma” meaning the god of creation, this lake has been named after Brahma the supreme in the triad of great Hindu gods which includes Shiva and Vishnu. By the end of December & early January, the entire peak is covered in a blanket of pristine white snow and this is one of the primary reasons why Brahmatal is the best trekking places in India and is one of the best places to visit in Uttarakhand in winters!

The Brahmatal trek takes you through an endless expanse of pristine white snow, covering around 22 km, spread over the 6 days. The base camp for this trek is Lohajung, at an altitude of about 7,000 ft. As per the Legend Goddess Parvati and a demon named Lohasur had a war and hence this place is named as Lohajung, “Jung” meaning “war”.
