This is an ideal trip for all ages to get acquainted with the splendours of the outdoors and especially the Himalayas. You would be travelling deep into pristine Himalayan country to experience the way of life in the mountains through interactions with the locals, village visits and visits to ancient and renowned historical sites like Badrinath, Tungnath, Ukhimath, etc. All the days are interspersed with exciting activities that include water activities, rope activities, hikes, etc. All along you would have our experts taking you through the intricacies of each activity to make it more fun and enjoyable.
Embark your journey from Haridwar and drive to Kund which is a tiny hamlet in the Mandakini river valley would harbour us for some time before we foray further into our adventure. On reaching Deoriatal which lies in the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary, one can see the reflections of the robust Chaukhamba peaks in the lake. Chopta has been christened ‘Mini-Switzerland’ because of its grassy prairies and exquisite surroundings. Our next Himalayan haven would be the snow-capped hills of Auli, situated in the Chamoli district. This venture concludes with a visit to Jayalgarh which is endowed with stretches of fields and the gurgling Alaknanda in the backdrop. This trip is modest and in accord with families.

Mountain/adventure travel requires one to be adequately equipped with the right kind of personal gear. Since one is travelling in the wilderness there will be hardly any opportunity to buy anything once you start the trip so we urge you to carefully pack everything into your bags.

All the items : Carry your stuff in a duffel bag, soft shoulder bag or a rucksack. Avoid suitcases, trolleys or any other hard luggage. As you will be walking long distances carrying a rucksack, avoid bringing unnecessary items on the trip. Please avoid carrying expensive watches, jewellery and electronic items on the trip.

Day 1: Haridwar/ Dehradun airport – Kund ( Drive/ 6-7 hrs)
A drive of 6- 7 hours from Haridwar through the winding hilly roads and we are in the Mandakini Valley. After lunch and some relaxation time, it’s time to hit the Mandakini River with our water activities team. We hike down to Mandakani River and indulge in river crossing activity under expert guidance. The day closes as you soak in the success of your tryst with the river. Overnight in lodge.

Day 2: Kund- Deoria Tal(2438m)- Ukhimath (1311m) - Kund ( Drive/1. 5hrs & Trek/3-4hrs)
After breakfast we set out on the hike to the beautiful Deoria Tal Lake. We first drive to the village of Sari (45 mins) and from here trek to the spectacular lake. Village life, wooded trails, lush flora and the backdrop of the Chaukhamba peak keep you company through this trail along with tips from our expert. We will arrive at the lake for lunch and spend the afternoon in the riveting natural surroundings. A rewarding 300-degree view of the Himalayan ranges and especially the towering Chaukhamba peak that feels at arm’s length and the reflection of the peaks in the clear waters of the lake make this trek well worth the effort. A small games session keeps the energy level of the group amped, and then we head back to Sari. From here we drive back to the lodge and make a small detour en route to visit the Ukhimath temple.

This beautiful temple is the winter seat of the Kedarnath deity and is an important stop on the Char Dham yatra. The influence of South Indian architecture can be clearly seen in the temple, something to boast about when you get back to school!! At the lodge, we reminisce about the day and then get back to our rooms for a well-earned night’s rest.

Day 3: Kund - Chopta(2680m)- Tungnath(3680m) – Chandrashila(4000m) – Chalkot Drive/ 1. 5 hrs & Trek/ 5- 6 hrs)
In the morning, we have an early breakfast and say goodbye to the team at the lodge before setting of on our drive to Chalkot. From here, we drive (45 mins) to the famous ‘Mini-Switzerland of India’, Chopta, known for a variety of avian life. We spend a large part of the day here, either relaxing in the meadows or hiking up to the Tungnath temple, which takes about 4-5 hours for the return trek. For those of you who like an extra challenge, you can also trek up to Chandrashila, which is another hour from Tungnath temple. Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world. Estimated to be more than 1000 years old, it is rife with history; it is said that the Pandavas of Mahabharata visited the region centuries ago. From Chopta we continue our scenic drive to our camp in Chalkot. We arrive at the camp towards late evening for a rewarding view. It takes a 200 m walk to reach the camp. It is a downhill walk through the dense forest. This area comes under the Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary which is a part of Nanda Devi Biophere. We enjoy the evening under the star-spangled sky followed by dinner. Overnight in camp.

Day 4: Chalkot – Auli (3049m) ( Drive/ 4- 5 hrs )
We get up to admire the beautiful views from camp and enjoy a cup of tea. Post a hearty breakfast, we drive to Auli. The ski slopes of Auli (covered in grass during the summers) are a sight to behold and we take fun rides on the chair lift. Overnight in lodge.

Day 5: Auli - Gurson meadows – Auli ( Drive / 30mins & Trek/ 3- 4 hrs)

After an early breakfast , we head from here to the undulating meadows at Gurson with the magnificent peaks Nanda Devi, Dronagiri , Neelgiri, Mana, Neelkanth as a constant company. We enjoy the day exploring this beautiful meadow , and then head back to Auli. It will take about 2 hrs to trek back taking the same trail. The remaining day would be spent indulging in a variety of rope activities like rappelling, valley traverse, rock climbing, etc. under the watchful eyes of our instructors. In the night, we return to the lodge for our last night in this magical place. Overnight in lodge.

Day 6: Auli - Jayalgarh (Drive / 6 hrs)
An early breakfast and we bid adieu to the mountains as we drive down to the riverside camp at Jayalgarh. En route we pass the important prayags (confluences) of some of the holiest rivers of India including Nandaprayag (Alaknanda & Nandakini), Karnaprayag (Alaknanda & Pinder) and Rudraprayag (Alaknanda & Mandakini). Rudraprayag was also the site of the famous hunter, Jim Corbett’s book, The Maneater of Rudraprayag. Once at Jayalgarh, its water, water and more water. This day is reserved for a multitude of water activities – think kayaking, duckie rides, cliff jumping and body surfing. All this will be done with our experienced river guides. After an exhausting day in the crystal clear waters of the Alaknanda, a hearty barbeque fare will be perfect to close. Live music keeps you company as the night sky takes over. Overnight in tents.

Day 7: Jayalgarh- Dehradun airport/ Haridwar
We reserve the best for the last. White water rafting & bridge slithering down the Alaknanda River is a perfect way to end the trip. This is an exciting river trip down the river. The trip comes to a close after breakfast, as you prepare to check out. Transfers will be arranged as per prior booking to Haridwar/Dehradun. Trip ends here.

We will pick up the participant on the first day of Trek from Haridwar and drop them on the last day of Trek at Haridwar.

Please fill up the registration form and pay an advance of Rs.7500/- to confirm your booking. The balance payment should reach our office at least 30 days before the commencement of the journey.

Cheques or DD should be in favour of OUTDOORS UNLIMITED, payable at VADODARA only.

  • The balance payment is to be paid atleast 30 days before the departure of the batch. If balance payment is not made on time it would automatically be considered cancelled without any prior intimation and no refund would be given in this regard.
  • Local Cheque/Demand Draft should be issued in favour of OUTDOORS UNLIMITED
  • Outstation cheque would not be accepted.
  • Payment against dishonored cheque/s to be paid in cash with additional charge of Rs.200/- per cheque.
  • No refund will be given in case the participant terminates the tour at any point due to any reason.
  • According to the strength of the group proper vehicle would be arranged and that should be acceptable to all.
  • Participants will have to walk to visit the places that are near to the hotel or where our vehicle cannot reach.
  • Please do not bring valuables in the tour. It will be participant’s duty to take care of their own luggage. Company is not liable for any kind of theft, loss or damage to your luggage.
  • At any point during the tour if any damage is done to the hotel property or bus or at any other point knowingly or unknowingly by any participant the responsible participant will have to bear the total damage charges and will have to settle it on the spot.
  • Tour may be cancelled if there is not enough strength, actual amount paid by the participant towards the trip will be refunded by A/c payee cheque only. No other claims will be entertained.
  • It is the responsibility of participant to collect the necessary travel documents from our office on time.
  • The organisers or any individual connected with it will not be held responsible in case of any accident or any unforeseen natural calamity.
  • The Company reserves the unconditional right to refuse a booking/terminate a passenger on tour in event of unreasonable behaviour at any time.
  • The Company has the right at any time and for any reason to amend, alter, vary or withdraw/substitute a hotel, travel arrangement or independent contractor for the reasons, which may be deemed fit and proper by the Company. The passengers shall have no rights to raise any dispute regarding the same.
  • In case if the tour days increases due to any unforeseen circumstances, the participants will have to pay Rs.400/- per head per day in cash to the tour manager.
  • Outdoors Unlimited has the right to use the participant's name, information and photographs in promotional materials, brochures and press releases.
  • In case if any rescue operation is to be undertaken, it will be charged from the participants on actual basis.
  • In case if the tour is cancelled or abandoned due to any unforeseen circumstances, no refund would be given.
  • Organisers will not be responsible towards any internal disputes arising with fellow participants.
  • Any claim or complaint by the passenger must be notified to the Company in writing within ten days after the tour completion date. No claim notified to the Company outside this period will be entertained and the Company shall incur no liability in respect thereof.
  • If the passenger has any complaint in respect of services provided by any of the independent contractors, the passenger shall immediately notify the same to the independent contractor and a copy thereof should be handed over to the tour manager, to enable the Company to take up the matter with the independent contractor.
  • The signing of the booking form by the passengers shall mean acceptance in totality of the ‘Terms and Conditions’ contained herein by the passengers. In case of one or more, but not all passengers signing the ‘Booking Form’, it shall be deemed that the others have duly authorized the concerned signing passenger.
  • Disputes, if any, will be subject to jurisdiction of VADODARA courts only.
